Enhancv Alternatives in 2026: What to Use Instead (and Why)
Enhancv is primarily a resume builder. The workflow starts with creating or importing a resume, choosing from 150+ templates, and optionally running an ATS check. It is a solid tool if you also want to redesign your resume visually.
But a few of its limitations lead people to look for alternatives:
No numerical ATS score. Enhancv's ATS checker runs 27 qualitative checks across categories. It does not produce a "73/100" match score against a specific job description. If you need to know your exact keyword coverage for a role, that gap matters. For context on what numerical ATS scores actually measure, see what is an ATS score.
PDF export only. Enhancv does not export .docx files. Many ATS systems parse Word documents more reliably than PDFs. For Workday, Taleo, and iCIMS specifically, .docx is the safer format.
Subscription required for anything useful. The free tier expires after 7 days, adds a watermark to every download, and limits you to 12 section items. The cheapest paid plan is $16.50/month on a 6-month commitment. There is no pay-per-use credit option.
Template quality versus ATS safety trade-off. Some of Enhancv's most visually appealing templates use two-column layouts, icons, and custom sections that actively hurt ATS parsing — the feature they also use as a selling point.
If any of those are the reason you are looking for something else, here are the alternatives.
If you need an ATS score and a rewritten resume: PassATS
PassATS takes a different approach to the problem. Rather than asking you to rebuild your resume in a designer, it takes your existing resume and a specific job description, runs them through an analysis, and produces a fully rewritten resume alongside an ATS score broken down across keyword match, format and structure, and experience fit.
The rewritten resume is downloadable as a .docx file.
Free tier: 1 full analysis with all core outputs. No credit card required, no 7-day expiry.
Paid: $2 for 1 credit, $5 for 4, $10 for 10. Monthly at $19 includes 50 analyses, job tracker, LinkedIn optimizer, STAR story generator, and outreach message drafts.
Best for: People who already have a resume and want to optimise it for a specific role rather than rebuild it from scratch.
What it does not do: Design templates. If the goal is a visually redesigned resume, PassATS is not the right tool — it optimises what you have.
If you need a free keyword checker: atspass.com
atspass.com strips back to the core function: paste resume and job description, receive a keyword match score and a breakdown of what you have and what you are missing. No signup required, three free scans per day.
Free tier: 3 analyses per day, no account.
Paid: $1.50 per credit (minimum 10, $15 total) or $12/month.
Best for: Quick keyword gap checks before submitting an application. The fastest and most frictionless option in this list.
What it does not do: Rewrite your resume. Suggestions are text notes you apply yourself.
If you need deep keyword analysis: Jobscan
Jobscan is the most established keyword analysis tool in this space. It gives a detailed match score, keyword breakdown by category, and formatting flags. An AI Optimize add-on attempts automated keyword insertion.
Free tier: Limited scans per month.
Paid: Approximately $49.95/month — the most expensive option in this comparison.
Best for: People who want the most detailed keyword gap analysis available and are comfortable doing the rewriting themselves.
What it does not do: Deliver a rewritten resume. The analysis is comprehensive; the fixing is up to you.
If you need feedback on your writing: Resume Worded
Resume Worded focuses on line-by-line feedback on individual bullets, a targeted resume tool for JD comparison, and LinkedIn profile review. It is more of a coaching product than an output product.
Free tier: Limited (pricing is not published publicly — check their site).
Best for: People who want to develop their resume writing skills over time rather than receive a finished document.
What it does not do: Produce a rewrite or export .docx.
If you still want a template builder but need .docx export: Zety or Resume.io
If the primary reason you used Enhancv was the visual templates, Zety and Resume.io are direct alternatives. Both offer large template libraries, .docx and PDF export options, and AI writing suggestions. Pricing is comparable to Enhancv.
Neither has a standalone ATS scoring tool that produces a numerical match against a specific job description. They are builders, not optimisers.

Which alternative to choose
You want a score and a finished resume for a specific role: PassATS. The only tool in this list that combines a numerical ATS score with a full rewrite output and .docx export.
You want the fastest free keyword check: atspass.com. No signup, three scans per day.
You want detailed keyword analysis and will do the rewriting: Jobscan, if the price is acceptable.
You want to improve your writing skills, not just get a one-off output: Resume Worded.
You want a template builder with .docx export: Zety or Resume.io as direct Enhancv substitutes for the design use case.
Enhancv is a good tool for building a polished-looking resume. If what you actually need is to know how your existing resume scores against a specific job description — and to get a rewritten version that addresses the gaps — that is a different product category.
